Invitation to the Quarters
Invocation of Brighid:
“Brighid, beautiful, shining Goddess, I invite you forth this night to witness this rite. May your brilliant light shine down upon me as I work. Welcome. So mote it be.”
As Brighid is welcomed, three red candles are lit in her honor.
Statement of purpose:
“I come before you this night, both to honor you and to ask that you lend your powers of inspiration and creativity to my life. Bless me with the eloquence and imagination necessary to help me reach my goal of (describe goal here).”
Magical working:
In a small cauldron, a charcoal block burns.
Upon the charcoal, smolder incense composed of equal parts of:
- Yarrow: to give courage to work toward goals
- Myrtle to bring fertility to the imagination
- Lavender: to bring happiness about the ideas created
- Cascara Sagrada: to smooth any legal obstacles
- Irish Moss: to grant luck
- Rue: to enhance mental powers
- Ginger: to make the endeavor successful
- Mastic: to manifest the desire on the physical plane
- Sage: to bring wisdom
Chant as incense begins to burn,
“With the blessing of Brighid, inspiration is mine!
With the blessing of Brighid, eloquence is mine!
With the blessing of Brighid, creativity is mine!
With the blessing of Brighid, Success is mine!
So Mote It Be!”
As the incense smolders, take a few moments to meditate on the working and to visualize your goals as already having been achieved.
Offering to Brighid:
Lift a glass of cinnamon schnapps toward the Heavens, saying,
“With my humble thanks, I offer to you this libation. May the creatures of the wild partake of it with pleasure.”
The schnapps is taken outside at conclusion of ritual.
Thanking Brighid:
“Brighid, most gracious Goddess, I thank you for your presence this night. I thank you for your continued blessings of my creative endeavors. With your help, I know my goals will be reached. Go if you must, stay if you like. Hail and farewell.”
